The Theory and Practice of You Can Do It! Education (Workshop 4)

Workshop Objective:  “Up-skilling” in YCDI’s essential classroom teaching and schoolwide practices
Who Should Attend?:  Teachers (K-12), guidance officers, welfare coordinators, mental health practitioners, school leadership and administrators.
Group Size:  Up to 60
Format:  Full day (6 hours) or two half-day or twilight sessions
Cost:  $850.00 (+GST) (Multi schools, same session: $1,250.00 +GST)


The purpose of this workshop is for participants to:

  • be encouraged to continue their journey implementing YCDI!
  • achieve more positive student achievement, well-being and relationship outcomes
  • incorporate YCDI teaching practices as part of their annual Professional Development goals
  • experience better job morale and less stress as a result of employing YCDI! Education
  • further develop their own in confidence, persistence, organisation, getting along & resilience as addressed in YCDI!
  • take a leadership role in the implementation of YCDI practices in a ‘whole school’ approach
  • share their own good YCDI learning practices with other members of staff as part of their PD
  • provide ‘at risk’ students with extra support – accelerating YCDI development
  • implement YCDI learning best practice in their work with young people 

Teacher Professional Capability Building (Workshop 5)

Workshop Objectives:  To develop the professional capabilities of teachers that research indicates positive student outcomes
Who Should Attend?: Teachers (K-12), guidance officers
Group Size: Up to 60
Format:  Full day (6 hours) or two half-day or twilight sessions
Cost:  $850.00 (+GST) (multiple schools, same session: $1,250.00 +GST)


The purpose of this workshop is to assist teachers to:

  • develop positive teacher-student relationships
  • communicate high expectations for achievement and behaviour
  • provide students with special responsibilities and involvement in classroom and school decision making
  • provide students with class and school activities that accommodate their interests, e.g. technical, social, artistic, enterprising, investigative
  • accommodate cultural – gender sensitivity
  • communicate and model attitudes. eg. optimism, high frustration tolerance, self-acceptance, values
  • develop curriculum that explicitly teaches academic / content standards and provides students with multiple opportunities for success
  • formulation of a sustainable framework of professional development to support teacher’s professional learning in this area

Teacher Personal Capability Building (Workshop 6)

Workshop Objectives:  To develop the personal capabilities that research indicates teacher well-being and positive student outcomes
Who Should Attend?: Teachers (K-12), guidance officers
Group Size: Up to 60
Format:  Full day (6 hours) or two half-day or twilight sessions

The purpose of this workshop is to assist teachers to:

  • develop the personal capabilities they need in order to have a positive impact on student’s achievement, social, emotional and behavioural outcomes including: Confidence, Persistence, Organisation, Getting Along and Resilience
  • incorporate personal capabilities in their everyday teaching practice
  • summarise the developmental profile of their staff and prioritising those personal capabilities most needed to develop over the next 12 months
  • develop an individualised professional development plan over the next 12-24 months
  • formulate an action plan to develop one or more of the personal capabilities identified as a priority
  • identify ongoing professional development to continue building personal capabilities
  • formulate a sustainable framework of professional development to support teachers’ personal learning in this area
